I began this piece by drawing part of a woman's face; and from there, the soft flowing forms developed as felt natural and fun. About midway through my process, I had learned about the Hand of Fatima (also known as the Hamsa), which is a symbol of protection, good health, and prosperity. I decided to incorporate the hand into this drawing to see how it might affect my personal life (and others) in a positive way. Because the woman's eye (and the floating eyeballs) in this piece is such a prominent feature, I titled the work The Eye of Fatima.
Some people seem to place a lot of emphasis on what a talisman is protecting against, but I generally use them as a physical reminder of what I am wishing for or calling in. For instance, instead of praying that I don't get sick, I pray for good health, so that I focus more of my attention and intention on the positive rather than the negative. A talisman can strengthen and potentiate your prayers greatly because it is a physical reminder of them. If you place your talisman on a necklace or a place in your house where you will see it often, it will remind you to focus your awareness on what you want, which will generally elevate your mood and increase creativity.
