Life as Art

Making art for a living. Living life as art. I’ve definitely found my Ikigai.

But sometimes I wonder what life might be like if I became a math teacher (or some other fill-in-the-blank-non-art-job) and only did art for fun, without a single thought or motivation to sell it, ever. What then? What would I create?

Part of the meditation of making art that will be for sale is to forget that it will ever be for sale. One must remove oneself as far as possible from the “for sale” mentality, so that anything created ends up being anything of real value. It’s a great and wonderful irony, and part of the beautiful meditative journey and knife’s edge balancing act of conscious creation.
