After Tour Recap

Greetings Art Friends,

I'm so very pleased and delighted to be home after two months on the road this summer with all of my art and music creations. This was the first time since my daughter was born that I've gone on the road for this long, and whoosh!--it's been one heck of a ride! You all know me for my visual art, of course, but many of you might not know about my other creative love: MUSIC! Music making has been a deep passion of mine throughout my whole life, and I am over the moon excited to be sharing it with even greater frequency as the years roll on.

This summer, my beloved and I went on our first full fledged family tour with all of our arts combined, which incorporated our newly named and inspiring music duo act, JAMeeSHKA. We played a few sweet private gigs, and busted out some absolutely delightful performances and music labs at festivals such as Enchanted Forest, Beloved, Oregon Eclipse, and Mystic Rising. Let's just say, this year has been super full on, with some big learning and creative expansion. Music has gone from being my creative mistress to being right up there front and center with painting.

It's been a real trip balancing all this with my visual art.

Sometimes I feel like a two headed unicorn.

And did I mention we also brought our little munchkin on tour with us!? That we did! Our little 4-yr-old Aiza wants to do pretty much everything we are doing these days. She even got on the mic a couple times on stage, and also photographed us while performing. Full family tour in effect!

We all really cherished our time on the road together, and we are definitely looking forward to more. We learned soooo much this summer, and also have some great music content to share with you from all our adventures very very soon.

If you'd like to be one of the first to hear tracks from this summer's live performances and other JAMeeSHKA recordings, like our Facebook page HERE.
So, what did I learn?

Since coming home, I've now had a minute to sit back and reflect on what actually happened this summer. And, one of the *jewels* I felt like sharing today is this: When you're out there making dreams come true, and the pressure is really on, stick with it. You will make it through. There will be times of immense pressure-- precious gem making moments, I call them-- so remind yourself of that when the going gets tough, that you are making diamonds. Take some deep breaths, take a look at all that you've accomplished, all the stuff your dreams are made of, and all that you are creating from love, and then carry on with the knowing that you were born for this.

Rather than cave in under the pressure, I have been reminding myself time and time again to continue to persevere because YES, I am making diamonds. There are definitely periods of time when that's clearly what's happening. It's not always easy. And sometimes things feel like they downright suck. But, I've noticed that that is because I'm majorly rubbing up against the edges of my comfort zone. I'm expanding. And for every human I've ever met, growth is usually not so easy. They don't call them growing pains for nothin! You are becoming something you've never been before, and that is hard work. Give yourself a pat on the back for that. Good job for creating something out of nothing! For jumping into the mystery. For saying yes to your dreams. For realizing your potential. Again and again and again.

Don't give up.

Perservere.

And most of all:

Do your magic with kindness toward yourself and others.
Making art nourishes my soul, and in turn, nourishes my community.
